12/8/13 COMPLETED Learning Contract EDG 664-50

Objective One: To practice planning and assessment skills



Resources/Strategies: 
  1. Outline planned work in a workable format
  2. Set sensible target dates for completing tasks.
  3. Assess the product

Target date for completion: September 16th

Evidence: Complete a learning contract in a chart format that reasonably plans out required work and final project.

Verification: Instructor feedback on draft one, acceptance of final product.

Objective Two: To increase my knowledge base of continuing education program planning.

Resources/Strategies:
  1. Complete required readings
  2. Create a reading log and post reflections on blog

Target date for completion:  Complete blog shell by September 30th and post blog entries each week thereafter.

Evidence:  Blog will contain reflections related to each chapter in the text as well as at least 4 additional reflections from articles, websites, or other resources. IN PROGRESS

Verification:  Positive feedback from instructor.

Objective Three: To compare and contrast individual professional development experiences.

Resources/Strategies:
  1. Interview a professional about his/her own experience.
  2. Reflect on my own professional development experience.
  3. Create a visual to document the experiences of each.
  4. Write a paper that compares and contrasts the two experiences.

Target date for completion: Complete interview by October 15th.  Complete the written documents by October 30th.

Evidence: Create a chart that compares different experiences – findings of professional and then my own.
Write a reflection paper describing the findings.

Verification: Positive feedback from instructor and interviewee

Objective Four: To gain a better understanding of the operationalization of professional development for adults.

Resources/Strategies:
  1. Choose an organization that provides adult professional development opportunities.
  2. Investigate the organization’s website.
  3. Meet with a rep from the organization to discuss how their process: determining client needs, planning activities, budget, identifying trends, and setting priorities.
  4. Create a visual and written product describing the process

Target date for completion: Review website and choose site by November 21st Meet by December 4th, Write up process by December 8th.

Evidence:  Complete a deliverable that includes a flow chart and/or bulleted task list as well as a short reflection on the experience.

Verification:  Positive feedback from instructor

Objective five: To recognize and assess various planning models

Resources/Strategies:
  1. Review the planning models identified in resources (text)
  2. Create a model to use in objective 6.
  3. Write a reflection that describes the model and reasons why chosen.

Target date for completion:  Complete needs assessment, create chart, and identify stakeholders by September 30th

Evidence:  Complete a visual and written resource containing a flowchart, task list, written process.

Verification:  Approval of Instructor

Objective six: To assess, organize, plan, and deliver a 1-hour workshop.

Resources/Strategies:
  1. Identify needs and stakeholders
  2. Create a flow-chart to describe the stages of the process
  3. Meet with stakeholders to plan (meeting set for November 5th)
  4. Deliver the workshop to test group (ON November 25th)
  5. Assess the workshop
  6. Document all stages of the experience (by December 8th)

Target date for completion:  Complete planning stage by November 6th:  DATE PUSHED until after meeting with instructor (November 5th).   

Facilitate workshop by November 25th

Evidence:  Facilitate a 1-hour workshop for new adjunct faculty

Verification:  Approval of Provost, positive feedback from instructor and test group.

*Term Project: To broaden the workshop experience (Objective 6) into a virtual environment.

Resources/Strategies:
  1. Identify needs of a virtual workshop
  2. Create additional flowchart
  3. Identify universal design needs
  4. Document the planning experience

Target date for completion: December 8th

Evidence:  Create a plan to offer the adjunct workshop in an online platform.
